How do I get an image under 100 KB? expand_more
Upload it, type 100 in the size box or press the ready-made button, and apply. The tool searches for the highest quality that keeps the file under 100 KB and shows you the quality it settled on.
Why is PNG not offered? expand_more
PNG is lossless, so there is no quality dial to search and no way to guarantee a target size with it. JPG and WebP are offered, and both accept a lowered quality.
What if the target cannot be met? expand_more
The tool says so clearly and gives you the smallest result it managed, rather than handing you a file over the limit that the portal you are applying to will reject.
Why does it sometimes shrink the dimensions? expand_more
Because quality alone is not always enough: on a large photo with a small budget it is the pixels, not the compression, that cost the bytes. When needed the tool scales the image down and tells you by how much, and you can forbid it with the checkbox.
