What is HEIC and why will it not open? expand_more
HEIC has been the iPhone camera's default since iOS 11. It saves space at similar quality, but Windows will not open it without an extra package, and many sites and portals refuse the upload.
Does converting lose quality? expand_more
Converting to JPG is lossy, so there is a theoretical loss — but it is not noticeable at quality 90 and above, which is the default here. Choose PNG if you want a conversion with no loss at all.
Can I convert several photos at once? expand_more
The tool converts one image at a time for now, with a preview before you download.
Why does it sometimes say the server cannot read HEIC? expand_more
Reading HEIC needs an extra ImageMagick component on the server. The page asks the server about it before you upload anything, so you do not wait for a large photo to upload only to be told the format is unsupported.
