Unit Converter

Length, weight, area, volume, temperature and more

calendar_today Last updated: August 22, 2026

Temperature is converted through its offset, not a plain factor — 0°C is 32°F, not 0°F. Data sizes use the binary powers a file manager reports (1 KB = 1024 bytes). Converted in your browser.

Sahel's unit converter handles length, mass, area, volume, temperature, speed, data size and time on factors that are exact by definition, includes the tola, the dunam and the oil barrel, and shows what the amount comes to in every other unit of the category at once.

Frequently asked questions

How many metres are in a mile? expand_more
A mile is exactly 1609.344 metres by definition, or 1.609344 kilometres. The tool uses that figure in full rather than rounding to 1.6, because the rounding accumulates over long distances.
How do I convert pounds to kilograms? expand_more
A pound is 0.45359237 kilograms by definition, so a kilogram is about 2.2046 pounds. Choose the "Mass" category and the two units, and the result appears at once alongside every other unit.
How is temperature converted? expand_more
Temperature alone cannot go through a plain factor, because it has an offset: 0°C is 32°F, not 0°F. The tool pivots every conversion through Celsius, which is what makes −40°C come out as exactly −40°F.
Why is a kilobyte 1024 bytes and not 1000? expand_more
Because the number people are trying to reconcile usually comes from a file manager, which uses the binary powers. Storage is sold in decimal ones, which is why a "1 TB" drive shows up as 931 GB.
What are the tola and the dunam? expand_more
The tola is the unit gold is priced in across the Gulf: exactly 180 troy grains, or 11.6638038 grams. The dunam is a land measure used across the Levant — Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Iraq — and is 1000 square metres.
Is a feddan the same as an acre? expand_more
No, and treating them as the same is the commonest error in Arabic conversion tables. The Egyptian feddan is 4200.833 square metres; an acre is 4046.856. That is 154 square metres apart, about 3.8% — a whole room on a land sale. Both are listed here separately.
