Frequently asked questions

How is the end-of-service gratuity calculated? expand_more
Under article 84: half a month's wage for each of the first five years, and a full month's wage for each year after that. Part years are paid pro rata at the rate of the band they fall in — so half a year inside the first five is worth half a month, not a whole one, a mistake several other calculators make.
Is it calculated on basic pay or on the full wage? expand_more
On your last actual wage, meaning basic pay plus every fixed allowance such as housing and transport, per the definition of wage in article 2. Calculating it on basic pay alone, or on basic plus housing only, understates what the worker is owed.
How much am I owed if I resign? expand_more
Under article 85: nothing if you served less than two years; one third from two years up to five; two thirds above five and below ten; and the full gratuity at ten years or more.
When do I get the full gratuity despite resigning? expand_more
Under article 87, in two cases: leaving because of circumstances beyond your control, or a female worker ending the contract within six months of her marriage or three months of giving birth. Conversely, no gratuity is due at all when dismissal falls under article 80.
